Toshi gets a new look …
I am no stranger to the Grand Millenium Hotel in TECOM, we used to live in TECOM and were one of the first families to visit the hotel when it opened some 8 years ago. I have hosted events at the hotel and my husband has held conferences there too. We have also dined in Toshi on a few occasions, so when I received a surprise invitation to try the new look Toshi, I jumped at the chance. We were celebrating a very special young lady turning 12, and this little site turned 4 on the same day too.
Toshi has recently undergone a completel refurbishment, out with the old dark wood and dark reds and welcome to a world of light cream seats and an altogether airier, lighter restaurant. Toshi has always had stunning views, the floor to ceiling glass windows will always be a permanent feature. I love the new look, simple and elegant with a touch of Asia. The restaurant hosts theme nights 7 nights a week, details of which can be found via this link.
We visited the restaurant on a Wednesday evening, which is Chinese night. There was a vast array of Chinese hot and cold salads to start with, along with a great selection of sushi (my new favourite thing). An amazing selection of main courses were available, some stunning steamed king prawns and crab sat alongside a wide variety of other dishes. Chinese style stewed duck, wok fried vegetables with tofu, beef with black bean sauce and a selection of steamed and fried dim sum. The live cooking area had an amazing selection of ingredients to whip up a tasty stir fry. The seafood selection was really good. It was here that we came across the most amazing crispy duck pancakes. Divine.
The dessert selection was more of an International affair with a selection of delectable Asian fruits, my lychee in coconut cream went down a treat. We had a really great dining experience, all the staff were lovely and the service was impeccable. Celebrations over it was time to head home …. with our birthday cake. Thank you Team Toshi.
