I have to admit it did find it strange when all the banners appeared in LuLu Al Barsha announcing the opening of Peppermill on the first floor. I took a peep in a when it opened and added it to the ever growing list of places to check out, which I managed to do on Friday afternoon.
The Restaurant itself is rather nice inside and not what you would expect to find inside Lulu Mall that’s for sure. All dark wood and fancy chairs with nice little separate dining areas for families or small groups. The tables were beautifully set with fabulous peacock coloured plates, and a pretty runner which were sadly whipped away from us as soon as we sat down, but they were instantly replaced with some tasty poppadoms and dips.
For starters we decided to share the Cold Chicken Tikka Chaat, diced chicken tikka tossed with onions, green chillies and coriander marinated in yoghurt and drizzled with chutney. I have never had cold Tikka before but I have to say it was really tasty, possibly a bit heavy on the chillies for me and the portion size was definitely too big for one person so I am glad we shared it.

For the main course we both opted for the Jalfrezi dishes, Chicken Jalfrezi, diced chicken breast stir fried in home-flavoured butter with a selection of herbs and spices. I opted for the prawn version of the dish. We went for the naan bread option instead of rice. Both dishes were presented beautifully and the food was delicious. All in all I enjoyed the entire dining experience, apart from the place is like a fridge!! food over and we whipped downstairs and outside for a quick defrost! I have to admit that I was suprised at the standard of this restaurant considering it’s location, I just wasn’t expecting it to be as good. The staff were lovely and the Manager popped by to check we were happy, and it’s always nice to be able to do your shopping afterwards!
When we were in Peppermill they were hosting their Friday Buffet which looked really good, they also have a Hungama Buffet on Thursday’s and Saturday’s which if you pop in and pick up their take-away menu you can get a voucher for buy one buffet get 50% off the second one.
You can find Peppermill on the 1st Floor of Lulu Hypermarket Mall in Al Barsha, they are also on Facebook too, or you can call them on 04 3549166. I have uploaded some more photographs to my Facebook page too.
Enjoy!
