Shahi Angethi

Shahi Angethi, authentic Indian cuisine straight from Lucknow …

shahiBeing British we love a good curry, however the curry we are used to has been adapted to appeal to the British palate, rarely do we get to sample authentic Indian food.   There are literally hundreds of Indian restaurants scattered around Dubai but how many of them serve authentic Indian food hailing from the heart of India? I think I have found one :)

Beachcombers

Beachcombers family brunch …

jumeirahIt is a pretty well known fact that I am  a huge fan of Jumeirah Beach Hotel.  This year sees the 15th Anniversary of the hotel opening its doors for the very first time.   We have stayed a few times over the years, visited the Dhow & Anchor many times, our visitors now always ask us to take them back to Jumeirah Beach Hotel, and in June I will be celebrating my Birthday there. It’s in my blood.

Pizza Pazza

Pizza Pazza, another JLT gem ….

003Yet again I find myself in Jumeirah Lake Towers and it is not the first time I have frequented the doors of Pizza Pazza.  Last month I grabbed a Margherita to bring home for a late lunch, I was impressed so yesterday we went to experience dining-in this little but authentic Sicilian pizza house.  Dubai is quite literally overloaded with pizza joints, from the American franchises to small locally owned ones.  Last month I wrote about Rossovivo Pizza which is still number one in my book, however Pizza Pazza is also worth a visit.

The D Bar and Grill

018It has been nearly two months now since The D Bar and Grill opened its doors above McGettigan’s at the Dubai World Trade Centre.   There was a lot of buzz about the place and I personally think I have read every review that has been written on this new vibrant yet eclectic restaurant with a strong Irish theme to its menu.   It has been criticized for practically anything and everything, let me tell you what I thought about The D Bar and Grill and then you can make your mind up for yourself.

Hatta Fort Hotel (revisited)

Hatta Fort Hotel, revisited ….

002I love Hatta Fort Hotel, it is just an amazing place to escape to, and it is only just over an hours drive from Dubai.   We visited last year with friends, you can find the review I wrote after that visit via this link.  Last weekend however we visited Hatta Fort Hotel as a family for a much-needed break.   We have had visitors in town for 7 weeks, so a bit of tranquility was on the books.

Itzza Pizza

Itzza Pizza, did it reach the right buttons?

itzzaAnother weekend and another major discussion of where are we going to eat today, rarely do we all agree on one place unless it’s on my favourite list.  The man and the child requested pizza, and I had seen Itzza Pizza one on of my other little trips to Jumeirah Lake Towers so off we went.  I seem to be spending more and more time in JLT these days!! it is fast becoming a haven for little fine fooderies.

Ezi Dzi

Yet another new kid on the JLT block, Ezi Dzi …

eziI was absolutely delighted last week when I was followed on Twitter by Ezi Dzi, their profile mentioned the words Persian and food in the same sentence,  I was hooked.  Mr GA however doesn’t have a passion for the Iranian food like I do, and it was nearly a week I had to wait before I was able to get over to JLT to sample the delights of Ezi Dzi with some friends.  Ezi did however manage to sneak over a sea bream in lemon and oil for me to try at home.
