Mama Fu’s Asian House

Move over PF Changs, there’s a new kid on the block ….

Its Saturday morning, the sun is shining and people are talking about John Lewis opening in Dubai Festival City.  Dubai Festival City is the opposite side of town for us but in less than half an hour we found ourselves in the new swish extension.  Very impressive and worth a visit I have to say. However what impressed me more was all the new food openings!!  This is where I found new kid on the block Mama Fu’s Asian House.   Asian food has to be one of our all time favourite cuisines.

Mama Fu’s has a warm welcoming feel to it, probably because their corporate colour is red.  The outlet isn’t huge, but it does occupy a corner spot, making it feel larger than it actually is.  The menu is inspired by the cuisines of Vietnam, Korea, China, Japan and Thailand. The comprehensive menu boasts a good selection of appetizers, soups and salads, and main courses with a few rather nice looking desserts.

After a lot of deliberation and discussion I decided to order the Thai dynamite shrimp salad; crispy shrimp glazed in a spicy dynamite sauce, served over mixed greens tossed with red bell peppers, white mushrooms, bean sprouts with a citrus ponzu dressing on the side.  The child ordered her favourite Sichuan kung pao beef; fiery kung pao sauce tossed with celery, water chestnuts, red bell pepper, onions, peanuts and chili peppers.  The husband opted for the Thai fire chicken red curry; a red hot coconut sauce simmered with lemongrass, onion, bok choy, carrots and bean sprouts.

All the food we had today was outstandingly good but the winning dish for us was very definitely the Sichuan kung pao. It was absolutely spot on and tasted divine.  The other two dishes were both superb too, my dynamite shrimp salad was huge and served on an amazingly fresh bed of mixed salad.

Mama Fu’s can be found on the ground floor at Dubai Festival City, they also have a branch in Abu Dhabi. Today we used our Entertainer app and our total spend came to 119 AED, excellent value for money, with unlimited refills on soda drinks too.   Well done Mama Fu’s, we will be back!!
