I was rather excited about visiting Bloomsbury’s as I had heard alot about their flagship store in Abu Dhabi and also about how meticulous the owner is about food and her passion for perfection, so we headed down to Dubai Mall with @bettyboodubai to sample their Afternoon Tea. I was invited to the opening of Bloomsbury’s but I prefer to check out places a few weeks later, give them a bit of time to settle in.
There had been alot of talk about Bloomsbury’s and The Golden Phoenix, the most expensive cupcake ever made, a video can be found of the making of that cupcake by following this link. I am not a huge fan of cupcakes if I am totally honest and I think that is due to the fact that Dubai has so many cupcake outlets now, the last time I had a cupcake it was from Magnolia Bakery and like most previous cupcake experiences I was disappointed with the end result.
We arrived at Bloomsbury’s at 3 pm and I was immediately impressed with the quality of and the range of cakes that were available, the Double Chocolate Heaven and the Raspberry Tempation looked particularly inviting. After being seated in the rather quant Alice in Wonderland like Tea Shop we ordered our Afternoon Tea which includes Freshly Baked Scones, Fresh Cut Sandwiches, Valrohna Chocolate Brownies, Homemade Cupcakes, Freshly Baked Blondies and Financiers, which turned up with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Included in the Afternoon Tea is a huge selection of specialty teas and coffee. You also get to choose which cupcake you want, needless to say I opted for the Double Chocolate Heaven, which in a word was Heaven!!! Bloomsbury’s Cupcakes are moist and their buttercream toppings just divine, I ate the whole lot!
The Afternoon Tea is very competitively priced at 55 AED per person, we had enough for three people and the staff very kindly packed up what was left over which Bettyboodubai donated to the car washing staff in the car park, I bet they had a feast!! I am going to have to add that the Staff at Bloomsbury’s are all very lovely, warm and welcoming. It’s a must do and if you have visitors in town why not treat them to Afternoon Tea and a trip up the Burj Khalifa. The Boutique Cupcakes are priced at 12 AED each whilst the Luxury Cupcakes are 16 AED each, and the speciality Teas are 20 AED with coffees starting at 12 AED. It makes sense to opt for the Afternoon Tea
EVERYTHING is made freshly on a daily basis at Bloomsbury’s including the breads, quite amazing.
Who couldn’t resist a bit of this!!
