Afternoon Tea Al Maha Style

Fabulous Al Maha offers Afternoon Tea …

mahaGreat we have visitors in town!  that means one thing, yes you guessed a trip up to the amazing Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa, not that you need an excuse to visit this haven in the desert.  I have visited Al Maha a few times and I think its time to say that I have made some great friends up there.  The entire Food and Beverage team who are headed by the legendary Chef David Miras know how to entertain in style.

Al Maha Resort is situated in The Dubai Desert Conservation area, about an hours drive from new Dubai.  Once you are off the Al Ain Road and heading over the desert the views are spectacular and expect to see Arabian oryx  as well as some lovely gazelles.  We were lucky on this occasion, we saw a caravan and camels making their way into resort for sundowners, magical!!

Afternoon tea is hosted in the bar area of the resort which has a balcony that overlooks  the desert. The views are absolutely amazing, you can hear a pin drop and hear the birds humming in the background, they often come onto the balcony to steal a crumb or two.  The food is humbly set up for you to help yourself, there are no huge dense scones, but tiny delicate ones that crumble in your mouth, with clotted cream and home-made preserves. There is also a selection of beautiful canapes, the egg one with the curry bread being my favourite.  It makes no difference whether you have a sweet or a savoury palette there is something for everyone with this afternoon tea, including a huge selection of teas and coffees.  Visiting Al Maha is an amazing experience and not everyone can afford to stay in one of the suites overnight, so this is a great way to get a little taste of the resort and impress your friends 🙂

Afternoon tea is available 7 days a week, as it is exclusive, only a few guests are allowed into the resort on a daily basis so booking in advance is a must for everyone.  The cost of the afternoon tea is just 120 dhs per person.   If you are interested in other experiences that are available at the Resort I suggest you check out Lime&Tonic Dubai.

For more information about Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa you can check their website, you can also find them on Facebook and Twitter.   If you want to follow Chef David Miras you can do so by clicking this link.  There are more photographs on my Facebook page too. Finally and most importantly the telephone number so you can make your reservation is 04 832 9900
